The Positive Pathways evening gives senior students and their parents/carers the opportunity to find out about the range of routes into successful careers. The evening was a mix of talks from guest speakers and the opportunity to speak to the diverse array of experts who were attending.
There are so many valid options open to each individual student now, so it is very important to attend events like this find out as much as you can before considering the best route for you.
The evening covered information for those considering university, college, apprenticeships, volunteering or entrepreneurship. Local and national employers shared what business is looking for in applicants and opportunities that exist now and in the future, you will be given tips on how to complete applications and how to write effective personal statements, receive financial advice and hear about exciting developments that make the world of work a much different place nowadays.

Leonardo: is a global high-tech company and one of the key players in Aerospace, Defence and Security. Entrants to the programme, typically aged 16-19 on joining, undertake an intensive training programme lasting two, three or four years, depending upon the scheme, Currently, there are over 100 trainees in this programme. Apprenticeships are offered in the areas of Craft, Test, and Design Engineering as well as Business and Cyber disciplines.

Farne Salmon: are the largest private sector employer in the Borders with a workforce of over 700 people – and, are still growing! Their factory is purpose built to exact specifications, and is the largest salmon processing facility in the UK.
LEAPS: LEAPS is a widening participation programme which aims to encourage and advise students who are traditionally under-represented in higher education. We support young people in South East Scotland, raising aspirations and providing impartial advice about higher education. We currently work with 59 schools throughout South East Scotland, supporting pupils who match LEAPS eligibility criteria.
Dominic Taddei: In the 10 years since Dominic set-up Clear Mortgage Solutions (CMS) he has achieved incredible success, developing a highly successful mortgage and protection business with continual significant growth.
Set to become the leading broker in Scotland, Dominic sought an equally minded motivated and ambitious partner to match the growing business and joined Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB) in March 2016.
